Verdict
The Spa Secret Batam is a must for those who are looking for a clean, family oriented, and good spa centre. With a wide variety and unique treatments to choose from, you are definitely spoilt for choice. In terms of location, it is centrally located in the Nagoya Hill Shopping area. Although it’s priced slightly higher than most spa centres in Batam, its quality is definitely on par with those in Singapore.
Introduction
Due to numerouos requests from our past and present customers, we have decided to do this comprehensive and impartial Spa Secret Batam Review. With our aching backs and undue stress burdening us, what better way to relieve them than to go for an affordable and quality massage in Batam? The Spa Secret Batam is one of the most established and well-known spas on this tourist-friendly island. It’s a family massage & spa centre well-known for their service professionalism and massage quality. Tip: If you intend to go during the weekends, peak or holiday periods; you’d need to book at least 3-5 days in advance to avoid disappointment as it’s always fully booked!
Location
The Spa Secret Batam is located beside the recently-renovated The Hills Hotel Batam and opposite the top shopping mall & hotel in Batam; Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall & Nagoya Hill Hotel Batam. Hence, it’s strategically located right in the heart of the city. With proper planning on where you should stay and the activities you should do in your short stay, you could save significant transportation costs as the taxis in Batam don’t use the meter (haggling is encouraged!).

The Spa Secret Batam was one of the first spas to introduce the one-of-a-kind body spa treatment: The Coffee/ Fruits/ Secret Wine/ Chocolate Body Spa! Yes, they use ingredients in our food and drinks for their treatments! Let us use the Chocolate Body Spa treatment as an example; the package includes:
- Sea salt foot bath
- Body cleansing
- Chocolate oil body massage
- Chocolate body scrub
- Body steam
- Chocolate body masker
- Chocolate bubble bath with Jacuzzi pool
- Shower with chocolate shower gel
- FOR LADIES: V-Ratus treatment & chocolate lotion
- FOR GENTS: Back & shoulder massage
Picture yourself enjoying the “yummy” chocolate body spa treatment for a good 2 hours 30 minutes! Aside from the inclusions above, they will even serve you a complimentary hot/iced chocolate at the end of the treatment. It is said that antioxidants in dark chocolate could even improve skin hydration for younger & healthier skin! In additional to the special treatments, they have the standard Balinese Aromatic Massage, Foot reflexology, and Hot Stone massage. Tip: You should consider doing without the body steam treatment as the 10-15 minutes could be better replaced by a short head/eye massage.
Quality & Value
Generally, the prices here are much cheaper as compared to Singapore spa centres but may be higher compared to their Batam competitors. For some value add, do include a 30-mins ear candling treatment worth IDR 150,000 (S$16) to remove excessive ear wax and toxins which can alleviate sinusitis, headache, & migraine. Below are some examples on the treatment prices: 1. Aromatic Foot Reflexology – 1 hour 30 minutes = IDR 280,000 (S$29) // 2 hours IDR 330,000 (S$34) which can cost up to S$60 per person in Singapore for a similar treatment – 90 mins 2. Balinese Aromatic Massage – 1 hour 30 minutes = IDR 330,000 (S$34) // 2 hours IDR 380,000 (S$39) which can cost up to $100 per person in Singapore for a similar treatment – 90 mins 3. The Chocolate Spa – 2 hours 30 minutes = IDR 960,000 (S$97) which can cost up to S$200 for a similar treatment – 150 mins
Ambience
Upon entering The Spa Secret Batam’s lobby, you will be greeted by a staff and escorted to the counter to choose your treatment. For those who have reserved their treatment in advance, you can relax at their cosy lobby while your therapist prepares the treatment. While you are being escorted to the treatment room, the relaxing smell of lemongrass/lavender will transport you to another realm of calmness! Tip: For gents, you can even request for a male therapist. However, since there is only a limited number, it’s best to inform them in advance!
Service
First and foremost, their staffs spoke good English and were able to communicate effectively. Some clients may not be comfortable with the masseurs touching certain areas of the body, so being able to understand and communicate with clients effectively is crucial. The massage however is less satisfying as the massage strokes were too gentle. The therapist was belching a few times during the massage. We know belching could be due to the “bad air” which had been transferred to her from our body during the massage session. We hope that was the reason for the belching and not for the food that she had for lunch! Their last order for spa treatments will be by 2100 hours whereas for their massage treatments by 2200 hours. If massage and spa is not your thing, you can even try their Hair treatments, manicure & pedicure and also facial treatments.
